Amit - The strongest candidates are those who understand the value and importance of working in teams. They are willing to challenge themselves to grow by stepping outside of their comfort zone and pursue opportunities and experiences that are unknown. Yes, their application will show their academic and professional strengths. But it will also show their leadership potential, the impact they've made within their communities. They've also done a lot of self-reflection and can speak to the value add they'll bring to the community.

Hi, I know Duke is in North Carolina, but don't know much about the area. is it a small university town? how far is it from a big city (I want to do this move with with my partner and 1-year old, so the location is critical)

Hi Kirti - we don't have a minimum requirement for work experience. Just make sure that your resume reflects all of your professional accomplishments thus far and the impact you've made in your roles.

Amit - Outside of their summer internships, our students are encouraged not to work during their studies. There are certain student leadership positions that they can apply for, but the hours are minimal as not to interfere with with their studies and other commitments.

We do require a test score, it can be a GMAT, GRE or EA score. And we also provide merit-based scholarships.

The timing of the process depends on which round you choose to apply. All students arrive in Durham in July and Orientation normally starts on August 1st.

Hi Eran, thanks for your questions....Our MBA program has a general management focus with 14 concentrations and 2 certificate programs. Students can choose to pursue 2 concentrations, 1 concentration/1 certificate or none. Marketing is one of your concentrations.

Hi Mor, we don't base admission on test scores or your GPA. The totality of your application will determine your admission.

Ealie - We actually don't require international applicants to submit a TOEFL score. It is not a required part of the application. Overall, I want you to apply when you're ready and feel the most confident about your application (and test score).

Ofek - A high GMAT score is helpful and can help address any potential academic concerns. Also keep in mind that all six components are weighed equally, one part is not more important than the other. If you have taken online courses or continuing education courses, you can submit those transcripts as well.

Dadon - there are many formal and informal ways that our students enhance their leadership potential. We have many leadership positions during their first and second year, in all of the student clubs. They can also pursue engagement with the Center of Leadership and Ethics as a COLE Fellow. That's a short answer but there are many ways for them to engage.

thanks @Duke_Fuqua for this! I am in the same situation. the GMAT is taking longer than anticipated. if I dont make it for round1, do you suggest applying in round 1 without a gmat, (and maybe a toefl) or is it better to apply when ready?

Danielle, you can submit your application for the Round 1 deadline but it won't be reviewed until we receive your test score.

Kirti - Not at all! The strength of your overall application will determine your competitiveness. Strong and well-rounded applicants will standout regardless of the round that you submit your application.
