Hi Merav, looking forward to this chat session. I have many questions
(the first is will Darden be waiving the GMAT in next year's application?)
Merav Frazier
6/09 06:52PM
Hi Daniel! We'll be offering candidates an opportunity to apply for a GMAT waiver, but it's not automatic or guaranteed.

hi Merav, What do you look at in candidates apart from the GMAT?

Guest- Peleg

and if there is will this be an issue with my scholarship chances?
Merav Frazier
6/09 09:41PM
Hi Peleg! We'll be offering candidates an opportunity to apply for a GMAT waiver, but it's not automatic or guaranteed.
Hi Ori! We look for a number of different factors beyond GMAT scores - academic performance, certifications, professional experiences, leadership, and personal qualities - just to name a few.
Peleg, we do prefer to see a test score when we evaluate for scholarships, but that doesn't mean that you will not qualify for one.
A scholarship committee within the Admissions office awards merit-based scholarships based on your application to the School and a variety of additional metrics and factors. No additional application is required. The scholarships, which range from a modest stipend to full tuition and fees, seek to recognize a recipient’s experience while investing in his or her future.

one more question, How many hours a week does one student need to invest in the MBA program? In class and at home?
Merav Frazier
6/09 09:49PM
Ori - great question! Classes are held 4 days a week/3 times a day during the CORE curriculum - roughly from 8:00am-1:00pm. This is for the first three quarters.

If I apply with low GMAT but improve it after the deadline, will you accept an update?
Merav Frazier
6/09 09:49PM
After that, you select your elective courses based on interest and your own schedule. - I would say 3 - 5 hours per day

thank you, this information really helped me
Merav Frazier
6/09 09:50PM
Then, factor in time to study!
Ido - yes! You can submit updates throughout the application process!
Ido, I would recommend that you apply during the early action round if you know that your GMAT is lower. This will allow for you to schedule your interview, rather than having to wait to be invited for one after we review your score.

Merav, Shalom from Israel! Are there any dual degrees together with other faculties? I am interested in public administration as well as business and looking to combine these two...
Merav Frazier
6/09 09:54PM
Hi Terry! Yes, we do offer dual-degree program options. https://www.darden.virginia.edu/mba/admissions/dual-degrees
The Darden School of Business and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia offer the MBA/MPP dual degree.

I have cleared CFA but have a low GMAT score. Can CFA compensate in anyway? Or if there is any GMAT waiver?
Merav Frazier
6/09 09:59PM
Ori - CFA can help you when you apply for the GMAT waiver, but our waivers are evaluated on a case by case basis and are not guaranteed.
Particular regard will be given for indicators of academic and professional accomplishment

What can I do if I don’t have LOR from direct supervisor? If I work for family business?
Merav Frazier
6/09 10:08PM
Hi Moti! That's fine. We'll accept LORs from other supervisors/mentors. Just please provide an explanation as to why you chose that person. There is space to give us context in the Additional Comments section of the application.
Our Office director notes - "Choose someone who know you and can highlight your strengths and give some anecdotes or share some stories about why you’re a talented leader, those examples that really resonate with us and helps lift the recommendation to another level"

hi everyone. just joined but I can see this chat is closing soon, so sorry if this was asked already - is there a difference between the applications rounds?
Merav, you are the best!
thanks
love all this info above
thanks
Merav Frazier
6/09 10:25PM
Hi Eden! In general, there is no difference between the rounds. However, I will say, it's slightly less competitive in the earlier rounds and more opportunities for scholarship!
